The glancing footnote about Galileo’s ailment gestures at something profoundly connected to Newport’s subject: the tension between contingency and control, and the specter of mortality that looms over our preoccupation with productivity and time. But Newport, who writes that the idea for this book came to him during the pandemic, isn’t inclined to explore anything so complicated. For his purposes, Galileo is just another input — an exemplar like any other.

The musical features Keys’ best-known hits: “Fallin’,” “No One,” “Girl on Fire,” “If I Ain’t Got You,” and, of course, “Empire State of Mind,” as well as four new songs. “Hell's Kitchen,” in a way, is a full-circle moment for the Keys' family. CNN —The late Foo Fighters’ drummer Taylor Hawkins will be honored in an all-star tribute concert in Los Angeles on Tuesday night. The event will mark the second show to honor Hawkins, the first was held at London’s Wembley Stadium earlier this month. Hawkins died in March in Bogotá, Colombia at age 50, just hours before the Foo Fighters were set to take the stage at a musical festival. Hawkins’ 16-year-old son, Shane joined his late father’s band on drums for a stirring performance of “My Hero” at the show in London. Taylor Hawkins joined Foo Fighters in 1997, first appearing with the band on the tour supporting their sophomore album, “The Colour and the Shape.”The concert will stream on Paramount+.

While the show had to close its curtains to new audiences in New York, it’s been given a new life touring the United States and opening in London’s West End.
